On June 29, at our Pollinator Palooza Festival, join some of our special events in Wings of the Tropics such as our Rainforest Tour at 2:30 p.m. where you can learn about tropical plants and their pollinators, or witness the magic of a butterfly’s first flight during Butterfly Releases at 4:00 and 6:30

This is a jungle nymph stick insect (Heteropteryx dilatata). They are bred here at Butterfly Pavilion and we feed them blackberry bramble leaves. Males and females look drastically different, males are much smaller and can fly, while females are large and green and only have vestigial wings. Butterfly Pavilion has successfully bred over 60 upside-down jellies, also known as Cassiopea! Native to mangrove habitats in the western Atlantic Ocean, these jellies can be challenging to breed in human care due to the specific conditions they require to become “stressed” enough to continue development.
