It took three days and five people to install “Expanding Club,” Janet Echelman’s large-scale sculpture now on view. Here’s a peek behind the curtain of the delicate installation process. “Expanding Club” (2007) soars 25 feet into SAM’s skylit gallery. The piece was originally installed at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York City and was adapted for SAM. The sculpture is one of Echelman’s earliest works inspired by a data set and was created following the first news of nuclear weapons testi
