SINTRA, Portugal -- Former Chicago White Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks, who recorded the final out of the 2005 World Series to end the White Sox 88-year championship drought, has died. He was 44. Jenks died July 4 in Sintra, Portugal, after a long battle with adenocarcinoma, a rare form of stomach cancer, the White Sox announced.

The White Sox announced that Jenks passed away on Friday in Portugal, where his family had moved to be closer to his wife's family.

Bobby Jenks' teammates from the 2005 White Sox World Series championship team paid tribute to the late pitcher.
