The two-time reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers take on the Chicago Blackhawks in an opening night triple-header to launch the 2025 NHL regular-season, the league announced Monday.
Aleksander Barkov is the first name among the players and is marked with ‘CAPT’ as the team’s captain. A key teammate of Matthew Tkachuk and Brad Marchand is leaving the Florida Panthers, but first he opens up about what it meant to be part of the NHL’s back-to-back Stanley Cup champion team.
“What I've seen from my time in South Florida is they care a ton, so much about hockey, more than I could have ever pictured,” Tkachuk said of Panthers fans. “I've love playing there. It's been the time of my life, the best thing that's happened to me in my hockey career, and I’m looking forward to hopefully another (Stanley Cup).”
