TOWN OF SULLIVAN, N.Y. – the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Laboratory has notified Madison County Public Health that mosquitoes from a trap located in the Town of Sullivan

Madison County officials say no human cases of the virus have been reported, but a bite from an infected mosquito can, in rare cases, lead to serious illness.

According to the Madison County Health Department, the New York State Department of Health confirmed that a mosquito trap in Sullivan recently tested positive for the Jamestown Canyon virus, a mosquito-spread illness that can cause flu-like symptoms and, in rare cases, lead to more serious health complications.
