(Tribune News Service) — Boeing employees will learn Wednesday who will lose their jobs in mid-January in the round of layoffs Boeing announced last month. The cuts will be broadly spread across the company and, despite some expectations earlier, engineers and production workers won’t be exempt.

Boeing workers across the U.S. are learning about a round of layoffs, with most workers impacted currently working in the state of Washington.

Boeing will lay off more than 2,500 workers in the U.S. states of Washington, Oregon, South Carolina and Missouri, according to federally required filings posted on Monday and a union official, as part of the debt-heavy U.

The cuts hit workers at facilities across the country, and appeared to impact all three Boeing divisions: commercial airplanes, defense and global services.

Boeing said it will lay off about 220 workers at its SC factories, nearly all of them at sites that build engine components, cabin parts and the Dreamliner jet.
