Yankees All-Star left-hander Max Fried left a start against the Chicago Cubs after a season-low three innings because of a a blister on his left index finger.

Nico Hoerner led off the game against Fried with a booming triple to left-center that was eventually chased down by Trent Grisham. Kyle Tucker’s slow roller to first knocked in Hoerner for the game’s first run in an opening inning that took Fried 28 pitches to get through.

With Max Fried sidelined, Jonathan Loáisiga continued to struggle while Cubs lefty Matthew Boyd cruised against the Yankees.
