Air quality is unhealthier-than-average for some people Thursday as winds are blowing wildfire smoke across the Northern California region.

An air quality advisory will remain in effect for the Bay Area through at least Monday, as smoke from wildfires burning in far Northern California drifts into the region.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the following counties: Adams, Buffalo, Clark, Crawford, Grant, Jackson, Juneau, La Crosse, Mo

Unhealthy air quality is forecast, with periods of Very Unhealthy air quality possible for several hours. Folks should expect to see and smell smoke, and Air Quality Alerts are in effect. Conditions will improve slightly tonight through Sunday.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued a statewide air quality alert through 9 a.m. Monday because of Canadian wildfire smoke.

The current infrastructure also isn’t set up to fully account for the shifting behavior of wildfire smoke, which can travel hundreds of miles or more from fire sources to affect air quality and public health in distant communities. That smoke can also include toxins, such as lead when cars and homes burn.

A game between the Calgary Stampeders and Saskatchewan Roughriders has kicked off a day after it was originally scheduled as wildfire smoke has cleared from the area around Regina's Mosaic Stadium. An agreement between the CFL and CFL Players’ Association says that games cannot be played if the Air Quality Health Index is higher than seven.
