Scottie Scheffler showed real class and grit on the back nine at Muirfield Village on Friday. After 10 holes of his second round at The Memorial, Scheffler seemed destined to miss the cut as he sat at four-over par for the tournament with just eight holes left to play.
This is when I realized a lot of it was crummy luck: An approach over the green and into a back bunker; a bad lie just off the fairway after a decent drive. To be clear, these shots were not great. But I’ve hit plenty worse and not suffered nearly the same consequence.
