The cold weather forecast for Florida calls for possible snow in the Panhandle Thursday night, Jan. 15. How chilly will Palm Beach County get? What to know.
The potential snowfall would not be like the dump of record-breaking white stuff that hit the panhandle on Jan. 21, 2025 where up to 10 inches fell.
While snow is not going to fall in Tampa Bay, there is a small chance of flurries in northern Florida this weekend. Lows will remain near freezing up north and forecasters are calling for a low chance of rain and snow showers Saturday night into Sunday, according to the Tallahassee weather service.
There's a chance Florida will see snow this weekend following frigid temperatures that prompted warnings across the state.
As far as the amount of snow that falls in the eastern parts of Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, as well as farther up along the mid-Atlantic coast and into southeastern New England, that will depend on the exact track of the storm, as a small shift can make a big difference, Sosnowski said.
Snow enthusiasts hoping to see flurries in Florida may get their opportunity on Sunday. Another surge of frigid air is expected to plunge southward, which will keep Florida temperatures well below normal, providing a brief window for snowfall in parts of North Florida and Georgia.
The cold is coming. In South Florida, temperatures will plunge into the 40s Thursday night and Friday morning, and may even feel chillier. In North and Central Florida, it will get much colder. “Get ready for some big changes,” said CBS News Miami meteorologist Shane Hinton.
