Cape Canaveral proposes "Launch Fund" as residents report damage from rocket vibrations
Rocket concerns are rising on the Space Coast as the City of Cape Canaveral looks for funding to repair damage from increasingly frequent and powerful launches.
A rare sight in the skies of the Space Coast, the Vulcan rocket will lift off on a National Security mission for the Space Force titled USSF-87. Launch is set for no earlier than 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb 12 from Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
In Cape Canaveral, rocket launches are no longer just a sky show. City leaders say louder, more frequent liftoffs are shaking walls, cracking plaster, and chewing up local infrastructure, so they are moving to create an emergency repair fund to help both residents and public facilities along the Space Coast.
