The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has said the fuel control switches in Boeing aeroplanes are safe, following their reported involvement in a fatal Air India crash that killed 260 people in June.

The June 12 crash involved Air India flight AI 171, a Boeing 787-8 bound for London Gatwick, which crashed shortly after take-off, killing 260 people. The AAIB's initial report highlighted that fuel supply to both engines was interrupted within a one-second gap,

The US Federal Aviation Administration has issued a notice to its international counterparts that fuel control switches in Boeing aeroplanes like the Dreamliner involved in last month’s fatal Air India crash do not pose a safety issue.
