U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi fired the lead prosecutor handling the federal fraud case against St. Petersburg businessperson Leo Govoni, ostensibly in retaliation for his role in prosecuting Jan. 6 rioters.
Bondi failed to remember her place in the world and Trump's default to personal gain over public good. She should have realized that her "findings" in the Epstein case would end up being whatever Trump wanted. And the safe course for her would be to tamp down prosecutorial expectations, not heighten them.
