Snow has started falling across parts of the UK in what the Met Office is describing as the country’s “first taste of winter”. There are currently three yellow warnings for snow and ice in place until late morning in northern Scotland,

Multiple Met Office weather warnings remain in place until Wednesday as parts of the UK wake up to snow this morning.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued an amber cold health alert for the whole of the North West, which is in place until 18:00 GMT on Saturday. The agency said the weather conditions would lead to an increased risk to older and vulnerable people and would likely have a significant impact on health services.
