The good news is shoppers with an Amazon Prime membership will get access to lots of good deals. The bad news is they'll be targeted by scammers looking to take advantage of the major shopping event. On Monday morning, the retail giant sent an email to customers warning them about a particular phishing scam on the rise.

Online spending is expected to surge to $23.8 billion across U.S. retailers during a 96-hour Amazon Prime Day event this week, according to an Adobe Analytics forecast released on Monday, as shoppers seek strong discounts on back-to-school gear ranging from apparel to electronics.

Before we get to the change, one thing that hasn't changed is that the day will let Prime members find the top deals of the summer and enjoy deep discounts across more than 35 categories. Amazon adds that Prime Day "continues to grow and bring new innovations to customers."
