The Download page on the main JMRI website provides links to download various JMRI versions, along with links to release notes, etc. Note that there are different downloads for different types of computers (Macintosh, Windows, etc), and the procedures for installing JMRI differ.
Production release 5.10 of JMRI/DecoderPro is available for download. This is the culmination of development in the 5.9.* series of test releases over the last six months.
It talks to the decoders using the JMRI programming interface, so that it can run on any computer and layout hardware that JMRI has been ported to. It's freely available for download.
Introduction to DecoderPro - segment 1 (14:56) - Dave Duchamp, one of the JMRI developers, introduces the DecoderPro program. DecoderPro is part of the Java Model Railroading Interface - a free open source model railroading software project.
DecoderPro is the DCC part of the JMRI (Java Model Railroading Interface) program. JMRI was created by a group of model railroading enthusiasts with a lot of help from Debbie Ames at the Lenz Agency.
Below are links to a series of videos on how to get started using the FREE JMRIDecoderPro software. The videos are all on the YouTube Channel of The DCC Guy Larry Puckett.
DecoderPro is a tool for programming model railroad DCC decoders. It provides a simpler user interface, grouping together choices and using text instead of bits and bytes.
What is DecoderPro? DecoderPro is a JMRI application. DecoderPro is a better tool for programming DCC decoders. DecoderPro simplifies the job of configuring complicated DCC decoders. DecoderPro supports mobile decoders (decoders in locomotives). DecoderPro supports some static decoders.
Behind the scenes, DecoderPro is configured using text files, so that it can be adapted to additional decoder types easily. It talks to the decoders using the JMRI programming interface, so that it can run on any computer and layout hardware that JMRI has been ported to.
